Kay D. Gaines is an independent author of dark romance, dark romantasy, and paranormal romance. Her stories are filled with morally gray characters, dangerous magic, obsession, betrayal, gothic mystery, and romances that blur the line between love and darkness.

She is the author of The Storm Trilogy, beginning with The Storm Within and continuing with Release the Storm, as well as the standalone dark paranormal romance The Portrait of Our Damnation: Painted in Blood and Time.

When she isn’t writing about powerful women, dangerous men, dark magic, and love that refuses to stay buried, Kay can usually be found surrounded by books, coffee, and the wonderfully chaotic realities of everyday life.

Kay lives in Colorado with her family and an assortment of pets who have all, at some point, interrupted her writing.

Her stories are for readers who enjoy dark romantasy, morally gray characters, powerful heroines, dangerous obsession, gothic romance, and plenty of emotional damage along the way.
